Generally, any herbs with stimulant laxative properties are contraindicated during pregnancy due to concerns of stimulating uterine contractions.  Recent research has shown that some stimulant laxatives (Cascara Sagrada and Cape Aloe included) have shown no adverse effects on pregnancy or the fetus when used according to the recommended doses.  As such, we consider the GI Renew formulas safe for use during pregnancy when used as recommended (and with common sense).

      – 1 to 6 capsules, 2 times per day.

      Contraindications

None known.  However, avoid during early pregnancy.

       NOTES:
This bowel formula is a bowel regenerator and anti-inflammatory, not a laxative. The goal is to keep herbs working in the gastro-intestinal tract, cleaning and rebuilding.

Also the goal is not to have loose stools, but nice soft stools. If diarrhea occurs, cut back on the amount of capsules that you are taking or lower the formula # that you’re on. Bowels work on 12-hour cycles. So you want AM and PM first, then lunch. Take as many as you need to move your bowels (do not exceed 10 at a time).

Find what level (#1,2,3,4 or 5) that best suits your body. You want to be able to take 3 caps in the A.M. and 3 caps in the P.M., yielding 2 formed bowel movements a day.

The GI Tract is controlled by the nervous system which is controlled by the adrenal glands. You may wish to work on your endocrine gland system, especially the adrenal glands.

The Brain & Nerve formula and the Neuro-Muscular (anti-spasmodic) are also of benefit, depending upon whether it’s constipation or diarrhea.

A diet with at least 80% raw fruits and vegetables is vital in keeping a healthy GI tract. Living fiber far exceeds psyllium, bran and grain products. Raw fruits and vegetables are electrical and enlivening to cells.

A Liver/Gallbladder Flush is very important for everyone, especially those that have small intestinal ulcers, constipation, diarrhea, and high blood pressure.

Expiration Date:  Powders and loose teas should be refrigerated after opening for longest freshness and potency.  Tinctures and capsules do not need to be refrigerated but should be stored in a cool, dark location (out of direct light).  This will ensure longest freshness and potency.  Date reflected on the bottom of the bottle is the standard “expiration” date.  If stored properly these products will last far beyond the recommended expiration date.
